ISO 19600 Compliance Management Systems – Guidelines from 2014
The Standard from the International Standards Organisation (ISO) was published in December 2014. Specialists from eleven countries were involved in compiling the Standard which is also to offer globally active organisations and companies internationally consistent guidelines for implementing compliance management systems (CMS). The cross-border and cross-sector regulations are based on the principles of good governance, proportionality, transparency and sustainability and attach importance to flexible implementation. This is especially emphasised by the fact that it is a guideline. The Standard does not impose any requirements, but rather makes recommendations.
The guidelines help to identify and analyse potential risks and indicate countermeasures for the most significant compliance risks. In addition to internal and external communication, the guidelines also evaluate the effectiveness of compliance measures and ongoing process improvements.
