The BKMS® System is also used in the Mandy Müller case. After broadcasting the ZDF programme "Aktenzeichen XY...ungelöst", the police has received numerous hints and now hopes to get significant new information via the Internet-based portal. The case of the woman from Nienburg who was 18 years old when she disappeared in 2008, has been of great concern to the police once again since 2016. The public prosecutor's office and the homicide commission assume that Mandy Müller has been a victim of homicide.
Possible witnesses or people who have otherwise received important information can use the electronic whistleblowing system to report also anonymously or communicate directly with the investigators upon request. The LKA Niedersachsen has been using the BKMS® System for many years and sets up a specially tailored whistleblower procedure (BKMS® Quick Response) for particular cases.
